Route and travel time

From Tirana Airport, the road heads south via Fier and Tepelena, then along the Drino valley past Gjirokastra. After the Muzina Pass it descends toward Saranda and continues south to Ksamil. The distance is about 260 km and the drive takes about 4 hours and 45 minutes, with a short break if you like.

What to see in Ksamil

Ksamil lies about 15 km south of Saranda, facing the island of Corfu, with small white-sand beaches and shallow, crystal-clear water. Just off the shore are four small islands you can reach by boat or kayak.

Just a few kilometers further south is Butrint National Park, with its UNESCO-protected ancient city, theater, basilica and the forest on the shore of Lake Butrint. In the evening, Ksamil’s restaurants serve fresh fish and mussels from the lake. To the north, along the coast, are Borsh and Himara.
